Buying in Mallorca is actually very easy once you understand these key things
We ran a Q&A poll on our Instagram stories and we’ve picked one of the questions that we wanted to address today, which was what foreign buyers need when buying or considering buying or looking to buy a property in Mallorca.
The first thing you need would be an NIE number, which is a sort of foreign identification number. Very simple to do.
I would recommend having a local Spanish lawyer here on the island who understands the building regulations. They can advise you, double-check the due diligence of whether the property is legal, if there are any hidden debts on the property, and ultimately protect you so that you are buying what you think you’re buying.
The third thing would be a Spanish bank account. This is also to pay your utilities, your taxes, everything here — easily done and sorted.
To manage the expectations of the buyer... How long can I expect this process to take?
The average would be between four to eight weeks. It’s an average completion time from signing the option contract.
